Steve van Dulken is an experienced patents and IP expert based at the Business & IP Centre at the British Library in London. Through the partnership between London and the Newcastle Business & IP Centre, Steve has very kindly agreed to share his wealth of knowledge on all things IP with us.

As well as recently curating a popular ‘Inventing the 21st Century’ exhibition, Steve has written books on 19th and 20th Century inventions and has a widely followed blog covering the latest news and know-how for inventors and business. http://britishlibrary.typepad.co.uk/patentsblog/

At this event we offer you a new format for a ‘live blog’ where Steve will lead a debate on some of the more interesting and pertinent topics of recent months.

Come along and join us as we discuss:

  • The reality of protecting your new idea and how the UK processes these inventions through the Intellectual Property Office
  • The new ‘peer to patent’ concept, how it works and feedback on progress
  • The increased number of patents in computing
  • Patents and the media
  • Some of Steve’s favourite inventions and interesting stories

We welcome anyone coming along to ask particular questions about their invention and what next steps might be.

This event will take place  in the Bewick Hall, Level 2, City Library.
