Thursday 28 May 2020, 3.00pm-4.00pm   Online event, accessible via your computer

This webinar will consider how tourism businesses can benefit from attracting an ageing audience to the region.

The tourism industry has been one of the worst affected by current challenges and is now looking at what a ‘new normal’ might look like. The GX Project’s Adapting and Innovating in 2020 series continues to explore and discuss the challenges and potential opportunities for the industry.

The North East’s tourism and cultural sector has long been switched on to the benefits of attracting an ageing audience to the region. This webinar will consider how tourism businesses can continue to benefit from the multi-generational ‘over 55s’ demographic, looking for everything from a vibrant restaurant scene and live music, to the rolling hills of the Cheviots.

The speakers will discuss what the current sentiment might be towards travel, which tech and digital experiences are engaging an ageing audience, and, moving forward, how leisure and travel habits may change and what businesses can do to adapt and innovate for future visitors.

In this webinar you will hear insights from Nic Palmarini, Director of the National Innovation Centre for Ageing (NICA), and Abigail Pogson, Chief Executive at Sage Gateshead. It will be delivered using Zoom as part of the GX Project.

Please note this is an online webinar. You do not need to come into the library to attend.
